It’s nice feeling happy. Happiness takes away the stress from our minds, it makes us look younger, and makes us feel more vibrant.
Being happy is contagious. If you are truly happy, you can make people around you happy too. 🙂
Being happy is a healthy mood. When you’re happy, it seems like you have more strength and you feel like you can face the day without any problems.
Isn’t it nice to be happy? 🙂
But what makes you happy?
Today, I want to share with you 10 things that make me feel happy. 🙂
- Waking up in the morning.
I feel very happy whenever I wake up in the morning. Why? Because it means God has given me another chance to see a new day unfold. A chance to correct the mistakes I made yesterday. A chance to explore and see new and beautiful things. Waking up in the morning is just refreshing! 🙂
- Drinking coffee and smelling its aroma.
I just love coffee. I am very happy when there is coffee around. I feel happy whenever coffee break is announced during seminars or classes. I don’t know why, but coffee gives me the feeling of being happy. And its aroma? Ahh, it’s so invigorating that just by smelling it, my tense body relaxes. 🙂
- Spending quality time with people I love.
With all the smartphones, tablets, wifi and social media nowadays, the art of spending quality time with family and loved ones is becoming super rare. It makes me feel happy to spend quality time with people I love. Quality time means no distractions around — no smartphones or FB or Instagram — just spending time and having light-hearted chit chats over a cup of coffee and just relaxing. It’s such a happy scene.
- Eating delicious food.
I am such a foodie! I love to eat. If eating can be called a hobby, then eating would be my number 1 hobby. 😛 I can never recall a time when I didn’t enjoy the sight of food. For me, eating is a happy thing to do. Of course, with control and moderation. I don’t want to end up being a glutton. Haha! As Julia Child said, “People who love to eat are always the best people.” 😉
- Cleaning the house.
I’m weird like that but I feel happy when I can clean our house. The smell of detergent and air spray or anything that is used to clean the house is wonderful for me. Yes, it really is tiring to clean an entire house. Imagine starting early in the morning and finishing up late in the afternoon. It’s really tiring. But it makes me happy to see the once-cluttered and dusty house shining and smelling good. 😀
- Long, solitary walks.
I live in a busy city where people are rushing and just can’t seem to slow down for a while. Sometimes, walking around the block or in a cool and quiet place makes me happy. It gives me the feeling of positivity and relaxation. Taking solitary walks makes me happy because it means I can look at the trees, the birds, and the flowers. I can see the clouds and the sky, and breathe in some fresh air. Solitary walks refreshes my mind and brings a sense of happiness.
- Doing things that I love to do.
I often hear people curse Mondays. They always feel groggy and miserable every time they are reminded that tomorrow is Monday. I eventually found out that it’s not because they really hate Mondays. The reality is, they actually hate their jobs. Doing what you love gives you a sense of happiness. I feel happy if I can do what I love. For example, binding a book, doing crochet, or indulging in a little art or calligraphy, cooking, traveling, and taking photos…anything I love doing. I feel very happy if I can do what I love. I believe that if you do what you love, you’ll always love what you do, even if it is repetitious. 🙂
- Learning new skills and passing them on.
Like what I said in the previous post, I am a skill hoarder. It makes me happy every time I am able to learn new skills. I like learning new things but I am the most happy when I am able to learn new skills and share them with others. It makes me feel happy to see other people happy whenever I teach them the same skill. Aren’t we supposed to share what we’ve learned? 🙂
I admit that I am a very timid and shy person. I have a problem or difficulty talking or interacting with people. Sometimes, if there are big gatherings, I feel like I want to shrink whenever I see big crowds of people. But, ironically, despite the fact that I am timid, I do enjoy serving. Serving gives me a feeling of happiness and satisfaction. May it be in the form of passing out plates, volunteering to wash the dishes, arranging the tables, sweeping the floor, listening to people with my undivided attention, distributing care packages to people who are in need, anything. Serving has always made me feel happy.
- Making God happy.
I did save the best for last. This may sound like a cliché, but this is the ultimate thing. I feel happiest whenever I make God happy. How? If I obey His commands and statutes. I feel happy whenever I know that I did what He wants me to do or live the way He wants me to live. Making God happy is something that is very grand to me. It’s like making your favourite teacher happy. It’s like making your parents happy. God is my Ultimate Teacher and Parent. I know that if I make Him happy, then I’d be happier.
