Learning A New Hobby

Hello everyone! πŸ™‚

It’s been a while since I was able to update this blog of mine. Been very busy these days. But still, I’m happy for all the blessings that were given to me and my family these days.

Right now, I am learning a new hobby. I got addicted to this after my friend asked me to help her with her baby’s christening invitations.

It was a real challenge for me and I was kind of reluctant to accept my friend’s favour since I wasn’t really a digital geek or Photoshop aficionado.

But still, I gave it a shot.

I asked my sister-in-law for a little tutorial since I didn’t know the functions in Photoshop very well. I just dictated the design I have in my head and she executed the “actions.” πŸ˜›

After numerous tweaking and deleting and editing and tweaking and editing again, we came up finally with a result that my friend liked. Here it is:

After that, I suddenly got hooked in making invitations.

Here are some of my “amateurish” creations. πŸ˜› This is what you expect from a newbie. Haha.

Some baby shower invites, for girl and boy. πŸ™‚

Then I saw our wedding invitation, I also tried making some.

After making the wedding invitation and RSVP card though, I noticed that I like the single-sheet than the ones with flaps, covers, ribbons and all the frills. I like simple-looking invitations. That’s the problem if you’re a minimalist. I don’t know if there are people who are like me who prefer simple and minimalist designs? Hmmm…

Anyway, here’s to me learning a new hobby. πŸ˜‰

I was just experimenting with the brushes and patterns and I’m still discovering the functions of each tools in Photoshop. It might take me some time to master this new hobby but learning new things is always fun. πŸ™‚

How about you? What new hobby are you learning nowadays? πŸ™‚

Keri Smith Creativity Books: Mess

Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing fine. πŸ™‚

I just wanted to share with you a book that I’m actually having fun with. πŸ™‚

It is Keri Smith’s Mess. πŸ˜€

Mess by Keri Smith|Saraine Gem Macaraeg 2015|www.coffeebreaksandrainydays.wordpress.com

I found this book 2 or 3 years ago from the bookshelves of Fully Booked. It is a fun book because it helps you to be creative, encourages you not to be afraid of committing any mistakes and will make you believe that every accident is beautiful and colourful. πŸ™‚

This book gives only 3 rules. These are the rules to keep in mind when you are to buy or to do the tasks of this book:

  1. Do not try to make something beautiful.
  2. Do not think too much. (There’s no “right or wrong.”
  3. Continue under all circumstances.

The rules and tasks are open to each person’s interpretation. πŸ™‚

Here are some of my recent activities from this book:

Cutting circles from magazines. πŸ™‚ I like the irregularity of the circles. πŸ™‚ They look so cute. πŸ™‚

Helping this very serious man to cheer up a little. πŸ˜›

Painting using my fingers. I draw like a kid. πŸ˜›

And finally, messing up the cover of this book! This was the very, very fun part! πŸ˜€

Mess by Keri Smith|Saraine Gem Macaraeg 2015|www.coffeebreaksandrainydays.wordpress.com

This book has helped me a lot to loosen out. I am the kind of person who really follows instructions to the letter, I colour inside the lines, and I never wanted to make a mistake or to get stained. But this book has just told me to do the opposite! At first, I thought the instructions were rebellious and ridiculous. But after trying it, it really helped me to be more creative and to believe that sometimes, in order for us to be creative, we should not be afraid to commit mistakes. πŸ™‚

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fresh

Hello everybody! πŸ˜€

It’s been a while since I posted something for the Weekly Photo Challenge. I wasn’t able to post for the previous challenge as I was so busy catching up with some serious spring cleaning. I really needed total time for spring cleaning because I wanted to get rid of some useless and not-so-important stuff from our house so,so badly.

And now, I’m done, not really done, but at least, I can be more relaxed now to write a blog post about this week’s photo challenge. πŸ™‚

As a response to the Daily Post‘s Weekly Photo ChallengeFresh“, I wanted to share with you photos which I consider and interpret as, well, fresh. πŸ˜‰

In the age of where everything are processed or artificial, from the food to the beverages, I can’t help but appreciate the array of these fresh fruits. πŸ˜€

To me, fresh always means garden-grown and hand-picked fruits. I always see canned fruit preserves or bottled berry jams everywhere. There are also tons of processed and bottled, chemically manufactured beverages in every grocery I go. So to see real fruits is just a refreshing sight to me. πŸ™‚

Here are my favourite fruits and berry of all time. πŸ™‚

And also, these fruits just reminds me that a new season is about to come.

Summer is already approaching. πŸ˜€

That means, it is time to get hydrated and find ways to beat the summer heat. πŸ˜€

I decided to make a refreshing and cool fruit water from these fresh fruits. πŸ™‚

The fruit water really tastes good! I love the combination of the fruits. πŸ™‚

So that’s how I interpret fresh. πŸ™‚

I hope you like the photos. πŸ™‚

So what does fresh mean to you? πŸ™‚

Return to Eden

Last month, Danny and I decided to visit our favourite place in Davao City, the Eden Nature Park ResortΒ as a form of relaxation and retreat from our hectic and busy life in the city. Eden is a place very similar to Baguio City. It has a cool climate, lots of pine trees, and beautiful surroundings. Taken from their website:

Peace, serenity, bonding and celebration amongst the splendour of creation.

Eden is a home to vast gardens of herbs and organic vegetables, lush field of exotic and tropical foliage, acres of lofty pines and fruit trees, and showcases of exotic and indigenous creatures at the Deer Park and Bird Walk.

After having our breakfast, Danny and I decided to walk around and take pictures. Everything around Eden is picture perfect. So if you visit there, be sure to bring a camera with you. You’ll miss half of your stay there if you don’t bring one. πŸ˜€ I want to share with you some of the photos we took. I hope you’ll enjoy them. πŸ™‚

On the way to Prayer Garden, we were greeted by a group of mouse deer. πŸ™‚ They look so adorable. πŸ™‚

Then we headed to the Prayer Garden. Here are some of the photos we took from there. As always, the garden looks so, so lovely with all the flowers around. πŸ™‚ Get ready for flower photos everyone. πŸ™‚

Danny knows that I love flowers very much. He knew exactly what was on my mind: to have my photo of me taken with the flowers. πŸ˜› He was kind enough to be the “photographer” and me as the “subject”. πŸ˜€ I love him so much! πŸ˜€

Then we headed next to the Amphitheatre. πŸ™‚ It’s beautiful as always with all the trees and flowers around it. πŸ™‚

After the Prayer Garden, we just strolled and took more photos. Both me and Danny enjoying walking.

We also gave a visit to our camp site last year.

It’s so nostalgic walking around. We have been coming to this place since 2002. But we never get tired going back. πŸ™‚ After taking strolls, we decided to go back to our room to take a rest. πŸ™‚

Eden Nature Park|Saraine Gem Macaraeg 2015|www.coffeebreaksandrainydays.wordpress.com

We were so happy to learn that we were given this room because this was the same room that we had during our honeymoon. Very, very memorable. πŸ˜€

We really love this room. πŸ™‚ We can always relax in here. πŸ™‚ I can sleep here the whole day! I love to wake up with the nature. πŸ™‚ Danny enjoys listening to the birds and the gentle breeze. πŸ™‚ Ah, photos cannot do justice of how nice this place is. πŸ™‚

I went outside the room to enjoy the surroundings when I found this lovely conifer lying around. πŸ™‚

Then I gathered all sorts of leaves, pine needles, twigs and everything. They give a rustic feeling. πŸ™‚ I love them. πŸ™‚

After getting the rest we needed, we then decided have a little snack and strolled some more. πŸ™‚ There are still lots of nice places to discover and photos to be pictured. πŸ™‚

Here are some of our photos from our random walks. πŸ™‚

Our last stop was at the gazebo open field. πŸ™‚ We love that place because it’s so cool and windy there, perfect for meditation, relaxation and even recreation. πŸ™‚

The field had a very lovely gazebo. πŸ™‚

And a very nice view that I can’t help taking a picture of my hubby, Danny there. πŸ™‚

Since the place was wide and open, Danny and I decided to play badminton. πŸ˜€ It was quite a long time since we played this game together. πŸ™‚

And we decided to go home after the game. πŸ™‚ We really had a wonderful time at Eden. πŸ™‚ We wouldn’t get tired coming back to this place. πŸ˜‰

We really look forward to return to Eden…I hope later? πŸ˜‰

Weekly Photo Challenge: Orange

OrangeΒ is a very happy and energetic colour . Whenever I see that colour, it gives me a cheerful and giddy feeling. πŸ™‚ The colour orange is the result when you combine the two primary colours, red and yellow.

According to psychologists, the colour orange “is optimistic and uplifting, rejuvenating our spirit.”

So, in this blog post, I want to share with you a group of photos with the colour orange in it as a response to the Daily Post‘s Weekly Photo ChallengeOrange You Glad It’s Photo Challenge Time?“. πŸ™‚

I have always loved the colour orange especially in sunrise and sunsets. πŸ™‚

That’s the thing also when I look at this colour. It makes me want to fix myself a glass of ice-cold orange juice. πŸ˜‰

I hope the photos I shared made you happy, energetic and appreciate the colour orange. πŸ™‚

So while I get my drink, you might want to see some of the other orange photos from other WP bloggers. πŸ™‚Β “Orange” you excited?Β πŸ˜‰
