Weekly Photo Challenge: Rule of Thirds

I first encountered the word “rule of thirds” when I attended a photography workshop in our youth summer camp. That’s when I learned that it is a principle in photography composition. It is a principle used to make photos balanced and more interesting. To do this, “the image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections.” (quoted from Wikipedia.)

So, when I first held a DSLR camera, I tried taking pictures using the rule of thirds, hoping that I really did nail it.

As a response to Daily Post‘s Weekly Photo Challenge Rule of Thirds“, I want to share with you a photo that I took a couple of years ago when I was still trying to figure out how to use the DSLR.

I took this photo after the rain has stopped. This photo gives me a very refreshing and reviving feeling. It’s as if the rain has also washed my troubles and stress away, along with the pollution and toxins in the surrounding and is giving a very promising renewal of life. πŸ™‚

I do hope that I nailed the rule of thirds in this one. But anyway, I hope you like the photo and may you feel the rejuvenation that I also feel every time I look at this photo. πŸ™‚
